Censored Tales , originally published by Macmillan, London in 1989, was my collection of short stories based on a number of extended trips to the USSR and Russia in the 1980s. After its publication I wrote several more stories, too late to be included.
Now Wildside Press has released an enlarged edition, which includes the newer stories, among them a full novella Calendar Girl and an eyewitness account of the 1991 coup attempt.
At the time of publication, I was worried the stories were already of days gone by. Rereading them after 35 years, they seem almost as relevant, although perhaps to a different country.
